Take your online social habits to the next level by creating a social media presence for your MIST team! Showcase your content strategy and digital marketing skills.

In-Person

Early Submission (2 weeks prior):

  • Link to social media platform
  • Typed statement submitted to MyMIST

On-Site:

  • Three (3) copies of the typed statement
  1. A minimum of one (1) and a maximum of six (6) people can register.
  2. One submission per school - if multiple students register from the same school, they must work as a team.
  1. MIST ID and order of competition will be pre-assigned randomly.

  2. Report at designated time and place. Introduced to judges by MIST ID only.

  3. Team name may appear on your social profiles.

  4. Create an Instagram or TikTok page for your MSA or MIST team:

    • Include posts related to MIST theme (5 posts minimum)
    • Posts can be text, images, video, etc.
    • Two posts must be regarding current events, with one being a pure news story
  5. Update platform based on your assessment of appropriate publishing frequency for chosen platform.

    • Updates can be text, images, video, etc.
  6. Encouraged to use infographics and editing software for content creation.

  7. Posts must be posted before submission date, not day of/night before.

  8. If Instagram stories are posted, they must be compiled into a highlight on the page.

  9. Be cognizant of music/sounds used:

    • No vulgarity, profanity, or inappropriate language
    • Contact Regional HQ if uncertain about sound/audio
  10. Submit (written statement and social media link) two (2) weeks prior to tournament.

    • All submissions viewed on computer unless stated otherwise.
  11. Typed explanation (1000 words max, double-spaced, 12-point font, max 3 pages) must include:

    • Social platform’s content details
    • Inspiration for choosing the platform
    • Content strategy employed
    • How each team member contributed
    • Any other pertinent information
  12. Interview will be no longer than 5 minutes.

  13. Social media platform must include:

    • Information about the MIST team
    • Prayer times
    • Names and contact information
    • Information about MIST meetings/events
    • Link to MIST National website (www.getmistified.com) in bio/linktree
    • Link to your MIST Regional’s website
    • Meeting time/place for next MIST meeting
    • Information on how to join the MIST team
    • Team’s Mission statement
    • At least one Islamic article that adolescents can relate to
    • Additional features (video clips, search facility, animation, etc.)

Judges will ask:

  1. How did you aim to convey this year’s theme in your work? In what ways does your submission represent your team’s point of view, imagination, creativity, and individuality?
  2. Explain your purpose in developing this artwork and describe how you achieved that goal. Describe any influences from the online world that contributed to the development of your submission.
  3. What elements or principles of social media did you use, and how did you select and organize the visual aspects of this work?

  • Includes all required items (team info, prayer times, contacts, events, links)
  • Islamic content that adolescents can relate to
