Soccer
Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Soccer competition offers a great team-building activity in the form of a fun, athletic competition. This competition is organized in a bracket format, and winning teams advance to the next round.
Registration Guidelines
Section titled “Registration Guidelines”- Each team may register a maximum of fourteen (14) members
- A minimum of six (6) members required to form a team
- Schools that cannot register 6 players may collaborate with another school (with approval)
Competition Format
Section titled “Competition Format”- Separate competitions for brothers and sisters
- Each school may bring both a sisters’ soccer team and a brothers’ soccer team
- Bracket-style tournament with advancement
Game Rules
Section titled “Game Rules”All standard soccer rules apply, with the following MIST-specific modifications:

All MIST rules and regulations, including dress code, apply

Failure to participate in MIST competitions results in immediate disqualification

Teams must wear matching colors (matching socks, shorts, and jerseys)

All players MUST wear shin guards

Players are NOT allowed to wear cleats with metal studs

Shorts MUST reach the knees - no short shorts allowed

Each team consists of 6 players on the field (no goalie), with a 3x2 goal

No goal tending - players cannot stand directly in front of goal for extended periods
- Players seen goal tending will be asked to step away
- After multiple warnings: possible ejection (referee’s discretion)

Players who purposely foul other players will be immediately ejected

No stoppage time added in any rounds

Ties in preliminary round are counted as ties (no extra time or penalties)
- In playoffs: 5-minute extra period, then penalties on regular-sized goals if still tied

Playoff advancement determined by points:
- Win = 3 points
- Tie = 1 point each
- Loss = 0 points

Unlimited substitutions at the center line at any time
- Player coming off must exit first before new player enters
- Standard soccer substitution rules apply

All free kicks are two touch (indirect)
- Any goal from a direct free kick will be waved off

No throw-ins - if ball goes out of bounds, opposite team plays in with a ground pass

10-goal mercy rule in the second half

Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated (see below)

Gender separation enforced - brothers cannot attend sisters’ games and vice versa

Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Section titled “Unsportsmanlike Conduct”The following offenses will result in a yellow card or red card:
